Ojos Verdes Malbec 2008
Mendoza, Argentina
Like most wine regions, Mendoza is not uniform, and winegrowers are starting to discover the subtle differences that define the different valleys and slopes of the region. The Ojos Verdes Malbec, for example, comes from the Alto Agrelo area; it’s a bit cooler there than in other parts of Mendoza, and that coolness means the grapes ripen slowly and evenly, which is ideal for intense, well-developed flavors in the wine.
The Ojos Verdes has lots of dark fruit aromas and a touch of licorice; it’s round and juicy, with soft tannins and a smooth finish.
NOTE: This wine has been so popular that it is no longer available.

Try the Ojos Verdes at your next barbecue; it goes great with chicken, ribs, and sausages. It also works well with a mature hard cheese like Manchego.
