The tasting was blind so we didn't know what we were trying. It was interesting not to be biased by the labels, region, price and the other things I didn’t even realize I check. It forced you to focus on the smell and taste. Each wine was unique, which made the tasting all the more fun - versus if you taste at a winery, where there are more similarities in style than differences. Best of all, the wines we tasted were reasonably priced!

It was a fun and educational experience to participate in the wine tasting panel for the USA TODAY Wine Club. We were offered a diverse selection of wines from around the globe, and what a great experience it was to taste these wines with other people around the Portland area.

The event was a huge success. Harry was extremely knowledgeable not only about the wines we were drinking, but on all aspects of the winemaking and distributing process. The wines we had were all very good, with a few real highlights. We even had two barrel tastings, something I've never had the privilege to try prior to the event. From tips on how to properly serve wine to proper storage to discovering my affinity for wines from Lodi, I learned plenty from the event.
